Symonics is led by Dr. Christian Hoene, Brigitte Brun, Michael Haun and Patrick Schreiner. While Brigitte Brun is an experienced manager and project coordinator, Dr. Hoene, Mr Haun and Mr Schreiner have worked for years on high quality telephony and teleconferencing services.

Dr. Christian Hoene

Dr. Christian Hoene is the CEO of Symonics. He has studied Technical Informatics at the TU Berlin. After having finished his studies in 1999, he earned a doctorate with his study “Internet Telephony over Wireless Links” supervised by Prof. Dr. Adam Wolisz. In 2005, Dr. Hoene started working as a postdoc at the Chair in Computer Networks and Internet at the University of Tübingen. He has been supervising his own junior research group called “Interactive Communication Systems” for the last two years.
Dr. Hoene has received numerous distinctions and research grants such as the “Erwin-Stephan-Preis” for his studies, the “Best-Paper-Award” for a publication, a distinction for his doctoral dissertation as well as research grants for postdocs from the University of Tübingen and the Baden-Württemberg Stiftung.
With an h-index of 12 (according to Google Scholar) and several hundred citations, the relevance of Dr.Hoene’s research is evident.
Apart from his research avtivities, Dr. Hoene is a member in several standard setting bodies like the IETF-team „Codec“ which developed the IETC Audio Codec Opus, a high quality Internet-optimized Audio Standard (comparable to MP3) that is standardized for all important Internet Players. This codec, which has been deveopled in partnership with Skype, Xiph.org, Broadcom, Poliycom, Cisco and Google, is the basis for the teleconferencing technology of Symonics.
Brigitte Brun
Brigitte Brun is the head of marketing, sales and business development at Symonics. Ms Brun is an internationally successful business manager. Since 2003, she has been a managing director at Six Sigma Steps (Nilux Consulting Ltd.) while at the same time being an advisory board member to several companies.
Her work experience includes among other positions the managing director post at Hiscout/HiSolutions, Berlin, as well as positions as interim executive at Xandros, New York and Sutherland Global Services Inc., Rochester, NY.
Brigitte Brun has studied Business Administration, International Communications and politics in Aix-en-Provence, France. She has earned a Master of Business Administration (first-class honours), a Master of International Communications (first-class honours) and a Pre-PhD in politics (first-class honours).
Michael Haun
Michael Haun is the CTO of Symonics. He has studied Bioinformatics at the University of Tübingen. In 2010, he finished his studies with excellent results and started working as a research associate with Dr. Christian Hoene at the Chair in Computer Networks and Internet at the University of Tübingen.
During his studies, Mr. Haun has gained a lot of practical experience while working for Deutscher Fußball Bund, PCI-Services GbR as well as for several institutions of the University of Tübingen such as the Faculty for educational science, the Career Service and the Campus Training Center. The web portals he has developed during that time are still being used by students and university employees. He also worked as a student assistant at the Chair in Computer Networks and Internet at the University of Tübingen.
Thanks to his extensive work experience, Mr.Haun is an expert in designing and implementing software projects and has profound knowledge in the fields of Internet communication and spatial acoustics.
Patrick Schreiner
Patrick Schreiner is the CDO of Symonics. He has studied Bioinformatics at the University of Tübingen. While writing his diploma thesis, he has gained extensive knowledge about functions and modifications of codecs and is now an expert in the field of high quality VoIP.
In addition to his studies, he worked for several institutions at the University of Tübingen such as the Campus Training Center, the Center for Data Processing (Zentrum für Datenverarbeitung) and the Chair in Computer Networks and Internet at the University of Tübingen, thus acquiring a wide range of practical experience.
In 2008, Mr. Schreiner developed and maintained the Web appearance of the cooperation between the faculties of sport of the University of Tübingen and Heidelberg and talent fostering of the Deutscher Fußball Bund (DFB).
