Visàge – How It Works in the Salon
Visàge is flexible and friendly. New stylists use Visàge to build their client base. Advanced stylists use Visàge to validate their recommendations with top clients. Some salons find it more productive for Certified Visàge Consultants to handle the analysis and photo shoots and turn clients over to a stylist for the new cut and style. Visàge has 5 basic steps sandwiched between pre- and post-analysis events.
Pre-Analysis Questionnaire
On arrival, the client completes a simple onscreen multiple-choice questionnaire about their lifestyle and grooming habits. This information allows the consultant to quickly tailor a unique customer experience.
First Photo Session
To fully capture the Visàge results, a ‘before’ photo has the client wearing their hair in the usual style.
A ‘working’ photo with hair pulled back to reveal the natural hairline and facial features is displayed on the Visàge analysis screens.
The Analysis
Visàge presents a series of interactive screens that the consultant uses, alongside the client, to educate, analyze and draw conclusions based on five specific areas of beauty. To deepen your client’s learning experience, each section is preceded by an animated introduction to the concept.
Self-guiding
Visàge is designed for ease of use. Analysis pages explain in visual and textual detail what you need to know to deliver a smooth professional consultation.
Find the good side
Visàge uses simple tools to assess the height of certain facial features that indicate a person’s better side.
Once the good side is determined, the client’s digital face appears as two separate faces mirroring two left and two right sides. The client sees that one face has a happier more youthful expression, while the other has a sadder or tired expression.
Hair styled to draw attention to the good side helps make a face appear bright and healthy.
Plan the hairstyle

The goal is a hairstyle that creates the illusion of facial symmetry. Visàge uses simple tools to take relative measurements of the face from top to bottom (compare to three equal thirds) and side to side (compare to a symmetrical oval). Hair styled to balance the face in length and width creates the illusion of symmetry and beauty.
Show off the eyes
Even the most balanced hair style falls short when certain facial features go untended. Eyes, brows and ears are analyzed and suggestions made for brow shaping or makeup that draws attention to the eyes and brings the whole face into balance.
Check style limitations

Because of the natural growth pattern of the hair and other factors, not all styles work. Whorls and cowlicks are identified and hair management through the use of correct products is discussed.
Go for color harmony

A fun color test determines the client’s skin tone before the hair coloring level and tone is confirmed. The stylist recommends hair coloring or highlights to brighten the face and create a healthy glow. Clients learn how to identify wearable colors that look best with their skin tone.
The After photo
After a new cut and style, the client poses for their “After” photo.
Take-home client profile
At the end of Visàge, the client is presented with a 6-page Client Profile, a full-color summary that includes all their photos, photographic analysis results, and their stylist’s product and home care recommendations. It is usually presented in nice folder with your salon brand.
What’s next?
Clients almost always book Visàge with time for a new cut and style, but over 65% will want to rebook for hair coloring or highlighting. When you offer a free wax or makeup application before the “After” photo you can bet the client will buy the eye makeup you used. The last page of the Client Profile is where your hair product recommendations are noted, so you’ll want to escort the client to the retail area and go over the list together.
